A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.Robert Heinlein, from The Notebooks of Lazarus Long
I'm about the closest thing to a jack-of-all-trades that I know. I've worked in food-service, medicine, law-enforcement, software development and computer networking. Additionally, I've done woodwork, leatherwork, jewelry, graphic design, costuming and acting.
Mostly, I'm the kind of person who looks at something and says "I can make that." Of course, that means I've always got a handful of partially-completed personal projects.
In my "spare time" I work with a few other folks in promoting the adoption of retired racing greyhounds. Primarily, we show the dogs at renaissance faires. I make my own costumes, as well as my wife's constumes.
